GEORGE MEINS
George Meins, 88, Hartley, formerly of Sioux City died Thursday (Feb. 5, 1981) at a Primghar hospital of long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the W. Harry Christy funeral home, 1801 Morningside Ave., Sioux City. Rev. Dwight Walker officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Meins was born April 28, 1892, in Schlewig-Holstein, Germany. He came to the United States at age 19. He settled in Akron. He married Katherine Schaff Oct. 13, 1911, in LeMars.
He farmed from 1901 to 1935 around Akron. They moved to Sioux City where he did landscaping work until he retired in 1976.
He lived in Sioux City 45 years and then moved to Hartley where he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Nelson.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Herbert of Duluth, Minn., and Harry of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Henrietta) Nelsen of Hartley and Mrs. Ray (Rose) Chartier of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Richard of Schleswig-Holstein, and three sisters, Tena Pabst of Sanborn, Minn., Marie Mahlmon of Hawarden, and Fredia Steinger of Germany; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
