MRS. L. E. STRIBLEY
Mrs. Lyle (Thera) Stribley, 80, who had lived in Merrill for 60 years, died Feb. 6, 1981, at her home in Merrill after a 3-week illness.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Merrill United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald Bardole will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Merrill, under the direction of the Mauer funeral home in LeMars.
The former Thera A. Benson, was born Oct. 16, 1900, at Pierson to Herbert and Minnie L. Watson Benson. She graduated from Pierson High School and attended National Business training school in Sioux City.
She was employed for several years in a law office in Sac City and later the Bank of Pierson.
Her marriage to Dr. Lyle E. Stribley took place Dec. 31, 1921, in Sioux City. Since 1921, she resided in Merrill where she was an active member of the Merrill United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Stribley participated in girl scouting as a troop leader. She was a member of the Merrill American Legion auxiliary and Merrill Federated Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Herb Benson.
Survivors are her husband; Dr. L.E. Stribley, Merrill dentist; a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie J. Montgomery, West Des Moines; a son Gary Stribley, Estherville; and five grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Maxine Cropley, Sioux City, and a brother Ronald Benson, N.J.
