Lorena M. Pederson, 74, of Carroll and formerly of Mason City, known to most as "Renie," died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a brief illness.

The former Lorena Reinhart was born Feb. 2, 1934, at Le Mars, the daughter of Clarence and Emma Freda (Dirks) Collmann Reinhart. As a young girl she attended and graduated from Brunsville High School in Brunsville.

She was married to Dr. David D. Pederson on Jan. 14, 1952, at Minneapolis, Minn. He died in 1987.

Lorena was retired from North Iowa Mercy Medical Center where she worked for 25 years as patient accounting clerk. She had lived in Carroll for the past 2 1/2 years and had lived most of her life in the Mason City area.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Mason City. While living in Carroll she was affiliated with the First United Methodist church.

In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and visiting with people.

Survivors include two sons, Derek Pederson and his wife, Carrie of Lakeville, Minn., and David Pederson and his wife, Mary of Carroll; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Ella Pederson, Sarah Bushnell and her husband, Anthony, and Bekah Rotert and her husband Kyle; great-grandchildren, Emily, David, Michaela and Rachael.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with the Rev. Ken Ferguson of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Further services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City, with Pastor Paul Nelson officiating.

Honorary casketbearers will be Derek Pederson, David Pederson, Anthony Bushnell, Kyle Rotert, Mike Green, Nicholas Pederson and David Bushnell.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Christ Lutheran Church cemetery, rural Le Mars.
