William C. Kern Died Tuesday

Funeral Services Were This Afternoon for Longtime Resident

William C. Kern passed away on Tuesday morning at his home, 335 2nd Ave. N.W., after a sickness of several months. He was born at Galena, Illinois, on March 31, 1871, and came to LeMars when a young man, spending the greater part of his life here. He was employed for a number of years by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and later worked for Schneider-Bowers Department Store. Of late, he had been employed at the Aalfs-Baker Mfg. Company. He was united in marriage to Ella Shoemaker at Sioux City on March 9, 1914.

Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. George (June) Jennings of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Clyde (Helen) Coppock and Mrs. Stanley (Lois) Tindall, both of LeMars, four grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. John Donahue of LeMars.

Funeral services were held at Luken's Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. and at the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Jennings and Rev. Frank Anderson officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery, under the direction of Luken's Funeral Home.
