Guy W. Ross, 72, of Westfield, died thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, the former Marion Hummel.

Funeral services were Monday at Westfield Congregational United Church of Christ.

Guy W. Ross, 72, of Westfield, IA, died Thursday, November
16, 2000 at his home.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Monday, November
20,2000 at Westfield Congregational United Church of
Christ in Westfield, IA with Rev. Steve Jewett officiating.

Burial took place in the Westfield Township Cemetery
in Westfield. Visitation were from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on
Sunday, November 19, 2000, with the family present from
2-4 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Guy W. Ross was born on July 29,1928 in Akron, IA, the
son of Guy M. and Laura (Carmen) Ross. Mr. Ross
graduated from Westfield High School in 1946.

Mr. Ross served in the National Guard from 1948 to
1955. He married Marion Hummel on March 24,1951 in
Sioux City, IA.

Mr. Ross was employed as a gravel truck driver with
Higman Sand & Gravel for 25 years. Mr. Ross then worked
for American Equipment for 11 years before working for
Jolly Time Popcorn where he retired in 1993.

Mr, Ross served on the Westfield City Council for two different
terms, long term member of Amateur Trapshooting
Association for 45 years, Member of the National Rifle Association, longtime member of Dakota Territory and Gun
Collectors Association.

In his free time Mr. Ross enjoyed gun shows, hunting,
fishing, trapshooting, gardening, growing flowers, and bird
watching.

Survivors include: his wife and mother of Westfield. Two
daughters Donna Ross-Moreno of Sioux City, IA and
Rose and her husband Mike Zediker of McCook Lake, SD.
Two grandchildren Jeremiah Zediker and Carmen Moreno.
One sister Velma Knudsen of Akron, IA and several nieces
and nephews.

Mr. Ross was proceeded in death by his father, one sister
Marlys Vrana and one brother Melvin "Bud" Ross.

Lunch was served at the church following the committal
service at the cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeremiah Zediker, Arnold Hummel,
Doug Vrana, Thomas Dunham, Melvin Clifford, and
Randy Hummel.

Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Buryanek, Don
Banks, Orville Lorerisen, Ronald Trudo, Harold Vrana,
and Robert Hummel.
