DREESZEN, ROY
WESTFIELD, Iowa—Roy F. Dreeszen, 80, of Westfield died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996, at the Akron Care Center after a long illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron with the Rev. Marty Healy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Dreeszen was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Westfield, the son of Henry and Harriet (Riordon) Dreeszen. He moved to Sioux City in 1924 where he attended schools. He returned to Westfield in 1931 and attended Sunnyside High School.
He married Catherine Yates July 31, 1943, in Dakota City. They farmed in the Akron and Westfield area until 1969. He worked for American Popcorn Co. until his retirement in 1981.
Mr. Dreeszen enjoyed woodworking and playing the violin.
Survivors include his wife; four sons and their wives, Herb and Marilyn of Sioux Falls, S.D., Doug and Darlene of Beresford, S.D., Ron and Joyce of Akron and Mark and Wanda of Jackson, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry, and a daughter-in-law, Bev.
Pallbearers will be Chad, Wade, Brent, Jerad, Justin and Matthew Dreeszen.
