CAROLINE DOUVIA

MARCUS, Iowa—Caroline Margaret Douvia, 94, of Marcus died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 3 p.m., and a Scriptural wake service at 8 p.m., all at Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel in Marcus.

Mrs. Douvia was born Oct. 24, 1906, in Remsen, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Galles) Reker. She spent most of her childhood years in the Remsen area and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. She married Elmer C. Douvia on April 14, 1930, in Remsen. They farmed north of Marcus for many years. He died April 10, 1969.

She moved back to Marcus and did home care until retiring. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta Nursing Home since 1991.

She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Guild, Missionary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, in which she was a past regent, and was a former member of the Marcus Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Dwayne and Darlene of Remsen; two daughters, ____ and her husband, Ralph Veach of Derby, Kan., and Donna Hey of Milford, Ohio; a sister, Florentine Kroah of Milford, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John; and three sisters, Tillie, Terese and Agnes.
