AKRON, Iowa---Lucille Gertrude Caskey, 86, of Akron died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at the Akron Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of Christ in Akron, with the Rev. Justin May officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron.
Mrs. Caskey was born Feb. 14, 1913, at Burbank, S.D., to Nels and Nona (Maynard) Trudeau. She attended school in Burbank. She married Charles S. Caskey on Feb. 7, 1931, in Vermillion, S.D. The coupled have lived in the Akron area for most of their lives. Charles died in April of 1986.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Akron where she was president of CFW, taught Bible School and was a cook for several years at the Church Camp in Sutherland, Iowa. Her hobbies included playing cards, crafts and fishing.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Don and Mary Ellen of Akron and Chuck and Patricia of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter-in-law, Susie of Ireton, Iowa; three sisters, Doris and her husband, Ernie Erickson of Calif., Myrtle Cooper of Reno, Nev., and Lela Seney of Vermillion, S.D.; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dick Caskey; a grandson, Charlie Caskey; and a great granddaughter, Andrea Harvey.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
