AKRON, Iowa---Roy S. Carlson, 85, of Akron died Thursday, May 4, 1995, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, Iowa, after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at the First Church of Christ in Akron with Pastor Randy Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Carlson was born July 15, 1910, in Plymouth County, Iowa (rural Akron) the son of Oscar and Lora (Squires) Carlson. He married Maggie Hanson Dec. 9, 1930, in Yankton, S.D. He worked as a mechanic for Adams Implement in Akron for several years. He later worked for Case Implement in Sioux City for five years. After retiring, he worked for the Fletcher’s in Akron for several years. Mr. Carlson was a longtime resident of Akron. He moved to The Abbey in LeMars in August of 1993. He had been in the Floyd Valley Hospital for ten days before his death.

Mr. Carlson was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Akron, and later, the First Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son and his wife, LeRoy O. and Teresa Carlson of Norfolk, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Lucille and Robert Lanning of Akron and Lois and Delbert Sanow of Struble, Iowa; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Lowell; a great grandson and a step great grandson.

Pallbearers will be Terry Sanow, Brandon Carlson, DelRoy Sanow, Ryan Carlson, LeRoy Dean Carlson, and Mike Erickson.
