Theresa E. Morton, 74, of Le Mars, and formerly of Benson, Minn., died Friday morning, May 9, 2008, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Theresa Elaine Morton was born June 1, 1933, in Brooten, Minn., the daughter of Julius Frank and Josephine Mary Margaret (Dauer) Hoefer. She was baptized in Brooten. Theresa lived in Brooten until she was 9 years old, then they moved to a farm near Glenwood, Minn. She attended school through the eighth grade. Theresa worked at the Pheasant Café in Swift Falls, Minn., until she married.

On June 22, 1950, Theresa was united in marriage to Gerald Kenneth Morton at the Congregational Church in Benson by Dr. Dickson. They made their home in Benson until August of 1962, when they moved to Litchfield, Minn. In 1977, they moved to Le Mars, where she worked at Vander Meer Bakery and TH Café in Le Mars.

She was a member of the Homemakers Club in Benson.

Among the things she enjoyed were sewing and crocheting, raising her family and making their home. Theresa was called from this life on Friday, May 9, 2008, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. She attained the age of 74 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Theresa is survived by her husband: Gerald Morton of Le Mars; her children: Pamela (Brian) Danielson of Buffalo, Minn., Sherlyn Morton of Sioux Falls, S.D., Timothy (Lynne) Morton of Willmar, Minn., Kenneth Morton (Cindy Brenna) of Richmond, Minn., Debra (Michael) Cronen of Kandiyohi, Minn., Susan (Gary) Kolker of Le Mars, Kathleen (Kirk) Friedrichsen of Holstein, Gerald (Tiereny) Morton of Calumet, and Daniel Morton of Le Mars; 35 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; siblings: Evelyn Hoeper of Fergus Falls, Minn., Walt (Mona) Hoefer of Alexandria, Minn., Anna Greene of Kandiyohi, Minn., and Agnes Gehlert of Holladay, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hoefer of Benson, Minn.; and other relatives and friends.

She was precede in death by her parents; brothers: Donald and John Hoefer; grandchildren: Crystal Kolker and Jamie Morton; a niece Nancy Lou Morton; and nephews: Jeffrey Hoeper, Dwayne Hoefer, and Jack Hoeper.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson, with Pastor Christopher Ross officiating. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Monday) at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson. Visitation will continue at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, Minn.
