Juanita G. McLagan, 74, of Sioux City died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael J. Schmidt of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Following cremation, graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. McLagan was born July 24, 1930, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis C. and Esther A. (Hansen) Christensen. She had resided in Sioux City her entire life. She was valedictorian of Liberty Consolidated class of 1948. She was also honorable mention All State Basketball.
She married Clayton L. McLagan on Aug. 7, 1949, in Sioux City. At one time, she was employed with JCPenney's. Later she worked for several years at Blackstone Hardware. More recently, she was employed with Scheels. Mr. McLagan passed away Dec. 9, 2004, in Sioux City.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 77, where she was a former president. She also was a founding member of The Joker Unit. She was a lifetime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Steven and Teri McLagan of Wayne, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Guy Sitzmann of Brandon, S.D.; a brother and his wife, Leon and Cathy Christensen of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister and her husband, Darlene and Bob Solomon of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Marcus Frey, Corey and Cassie Sitzmann and Nicolle, Eric and Stefanie McLagan; and three great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jan Marie McLagan.
Pallbearers will be Eric McLagan, Corey Sitzmann, Guy Sitzmann, Louis Pick, Mike Holtz and David DeRocher.
