MOVILLE, Iowa -- Ralph Irving McNaughton, 93, of Moville died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Moville Evangelical Church, with the Rev. Ken Brakefield officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Masonic service, at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mr. McNaughton was born Jan. 6, 1912, in Lawton, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Hess) McNaughton. He was raised in the Lawton area and attended Banner Township Country School. He lived his entire life in the Lawton area until moving to Moville in 1999.

On Dec. 17, 1931, he was united in marriage to Aloyse Custer in Dakota City. Aloyse passed away in Sept. 11, 1975, in Rochester, Minn. He was employed as a farmer until 1975. He then worked at J.C. Penney's in Sioux City until his retirement in 1985.

He attended Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. He enjoyed collecting, repairing and displaying gas engines. He belonged to the Pioneer Machinery Club for many years. He considered anything John Deere sacred. Family gatherings, the food and visiting were special times to him.

Survivors include three nieces and their husbands, Ruby and Douglas Johnson, Betty and Richard McNaughton and Janet and Raynard McNaughton; and many other great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aloyse; a daughter, Joyce Carol McNaughton; his parents; seven brothers; and six sisters.

Pallbearers will be Merrill McNaughton, John Goodwin, Tom Theisen, Larry McNaughton, Jim Willer and Bret McNaughton.
