SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Earl W. Martin, 93, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at a South Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Earl was born May 15, 1911, in Sioux City, the son of Anthon and Catherine (Daugherty) Marousek.

He married Hazel R. Johnson on May 11, 1940, in Le Mars, Iowa. He served three years in the Armed Forces during World War II in the European Theater. He was a printer, retiring from the Sioux City Journal in 1973.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. He also was a member of the Printer's Union.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Marty, Ron, Shane and Bob Johnson, Lowell Shaw and Gerry Uhing.
