WALTER M. MEISTER

Walter M. Meister, 91, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at a Sioux City nursing and rehab center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Russell Lawrey, elder of the East Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, officiating. Burial will be in Union Township Cemetery, Union, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

Mr. Meister was born Aug. 24, 1910, on a farm near Kingsley, Iowa, the son of William and Hannah Meister. He married Phyllis MacKay on June 24, 1936, in LeMars, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City upon his retirement from farming in 1974. He had farmed in the Kingsley area for 37 years.

He was a member of the East Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was an avid gardener and was known for his flower beds.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Joann and Eugene Morton of Sioux City; and three grandchildren, Jean Fink and her husband, Robert of Fremont, Neb., Daniel Morton and his wife, Melody of St. Joseph, Mo., and William Morton of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will be Robert Fink, Michael Fink, Daniel Morton and William Morton.
