Rites Held Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Mildred Dempster of Neligh were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12, at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold J. Coates officiating.

Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Larry Brandstetter, Jerry Brandstetter, John Brandstetter, Tom Sheppard, Billy Dempster and Eldeen Dempster serving as pallbearers.

Edna Dempster was born to Katie and Rufus Harbison in Knox County on July 9, 1896 and died January 9 at Antelope Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 years. She grew up in the Creighton area and on February 19, 1920 was married to William Dempster. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Leon (Irene) Manning of Lincoln and Mrs. Orvil (sic--Orval) (Dorothy) Brandstetter of Wayne; and two sons, Dwight of Norfolk and Donald of Morrill. The couple farmed north of Neligh until moving to Neligh in 1947. Mrs. Dempster had made her home at Keahaven Nursing Home in Neligh since April 1970.

Survivors include her four children; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Harbison and Mrs. Ernest (Josie) Becker; and two brothers, Floyd and Glenn Harbison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; one sister, Eva; and two brothers, Clarence and Howard.
