Tamara Meylor Mansfield, 16, of Le Mars, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Tamara was born July 1, 1991, in Sioux City, a twin daughter of David and Patricia (Meylor) Mansfield. She was raised in Le Mars and was currently enrolled as a sophomore at Gehlen Catholic High School in Le Mars. Tamara was active in sports and had played basketball on the Gehlen girls freshman and J.V. teams. She had also played softball for the Le Mars Little League and had been chosen to play on the All Star team.

Tamara was a member of St. James Catholic Church and had served the parish for many years as a mass server.

She enjoyed drawing and working at Taco Johns.

Survivors include her parents: Patricia Mansfield and her fiancé John Jacobson of Le Mars and David Mansfield and his fiancée Katherine West of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, her twin sister Tiffany Mansfield and Tricia Mansfield, both of Le Mars; two brothers, Tyler Mansfield of Iowa City and Travis Mansfield of Sigourney; her maternal grandmother Ann Meylor of Le Mars; maternal great-grandmother Bernice Johnson of Cherokee; aunts and uncles, Steve Mansfield of Anchorage, Alaska, Bob and Lori Meylor, Theresa Walsh and Debbie Heidbrink, all of Le Mars, and Sue and Steve Miller of Sioux City; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Lawrence "Bud" and Opal Mansfield; maternal grandfather R.J. Meylor; and an uncle Dennis Mansfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges as the main celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Church, where there will be a Gehlen School rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Josh Miller, Kyle Feller, Robbie Walsh, Josh Jacobs, Josh Hodgson and Kyle Crawford.

The Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars is handling arrangements for the family.
