Dennis D. Bainbridge, 57, of rural Kingsley, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, near his home.

Dennis DeVern Bainbridge was born on May 15, 1950 in Sioux City, the son of Ward and Abbie (Brown) Bainbridge. On March 27, 1993 he married Nancy Krogman at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Kingsley. The couple made their home in Kingsley. Dennis worked as a plant foreman for Irving F. Jensen Construction in Sioux City. He retired in 1997.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and reading. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Kingsley; parents, his father, Ward Bainbridge of Smithland, his mother Abbie and Walt Harmon of San Jose, Calif.; children Troy and Amanda Bainbridge of Kingsley, Colleen Wilson of Kingsley, Cristy Lindgren and her fiancé Neal Rolling of Kingsley, Chad and Amy Hill of Pierson, and Eric Lindgren of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Sean Bainbridge, Brooke Wilson, Kayla and Tyler Hill, Alyssa, Taylor, Nicolas, Camden and Keegan Bainbridge, Joe and Ruth Bainbridge; sisters Lois and Rod Kelley of Campbell, Calif., Ellie Verga of Rochester, Wash., Sharon McBride of Campbell, Calif., Debbie and Kevin Burns of Sonora, Calif., Greg and Shirley Hale of New Mexico; brothers Doug Leach of Le Mars, Ward Bainbridge Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D., Greg Bainbridge of Oto, Jeff and Becky Bainbridge of Sioux City, Shane Bainbridge of Smithland, and Shannon Bainbridge of Rodney; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Ruth Bainbridge; granddaughter Megan Bainbridge-Grover; a brother David Bainbridge; and a brother-in-law Marvin Krogman.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home of Kingsley. The Rev. Thomas Topf and the Rev. Robert Blair will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Kingsley. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday.
