Marian L. Fitzpatrick, 91, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, after a brief illness.

The former Marian Lucille Schnepf was born Feb. 22, 1916, on the family farm in Fredonia Township near Oyens, the daughter of William and Helen (Majeres) Schnepf. She grew up in the Oyens area, attended St. Catherine's Parochial School in Oyens and graduated in 1934 from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Remsen.

Marian married William E. Fitzpatrick on April 6, 1942 at Oyens. The couple lived in Hartford, Conn., for several years until 1946 when they moved back to Le Mars. Her husband William died on Aug. 2, 1994. She had recently moved to Humboldt to live with her daughter due to failing health.

Marian was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mother's Society, the 8 til Late Club and numerous card clubs. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, sewing and playing cards, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, friends, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Pat Wasoba and her husband Ron of Humboldt; grandchildren: Jennifer and Jason Liles of Montgomery, Texas, Kelly and Jim Crippen of Ankeny and Keith Wasoba of Des Moines; great-grandchildren: Sage Liles and Chance and Grace Crippen; sisters, Delores Flaherty of Houston, Texas and Jane Even and her husband Mike of Alton; a sister-in-law Loretta Schnepf of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill Fitzpatrick; brothers: Ralph Schnepf, Elmer and Esther Schnepf and Magnus "Max" and Theresa Schnepf; and sisters: Harriet and Frank Ludwig and Helen and Sylvester Pick; and a brother-in-law T. W. Flaherty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a combined rosary at 4 p.m. by the parish, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Christian Mother's Society and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.
