James L. Grimm, 60, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at his home in Le Mars surrounded by his family.
James Lee Grimm was born July 19, 1947 at Plainwell, Mich., the son of Edward and Blanche (Davenport) Grimm. Jim attended school in Michigan. Jim served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict with the 82nd Airborne Division. Jim was united in marriage to Virginia Stenger on Nov. 7, 1970, at Cedar Creek, Mich.
He worked for several years in Michigan and later in May 1979 the family moved to Kirby, Wyo., and later moved to Le Mars, in 1979. Jim had worked for Sherrill Construction, and for the last five years was employed with Wells' Dairy in the maintenance division.
Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his family very much. He was very good natured and will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing and watching boxing.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Virginia of Le Mars; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Cynthia Ann Cassady of Kirby, Wyo., and Jeff and Jenni Grimm and their children Lain, Ashley, and Lee of Thermopolis, Wyo.; four sisters: Evelyn (Jim) Hayes of Hastings, Mich., Helen (Rolland) Haight of Minnesota, Waneta Lester of Prairieville, Mich., and Carol (Lee) Vanarsdale of Delton, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Blanche (Davenport) Grimm.
Private family services will be held in Le Mars. Funeral arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.
