LE MARS, Iowa --- Ella H. Gotto, 83, of LeMars, died Saturday, August 19, 1995, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. Jerry Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7:30 p.m. Scriptural wake service and an 8 p.m. rosary, at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mrs. Gotto, the former Ella Ladenthin was born May 1, 1912, near Kingsley, Iowa, in Lincoln Township in Plymouth County, the daughter of Jacob and Louise (Krause) Ladenthin. She grew up in Lincoln Township and attended rural school near Neptune, Iowa. She married John B. Gotto Sept. 28, 1934, in Remsen, Iowa. The couple farmed for a few years in the Kingsley area and later moved to LeMars. Mrs. Gotto resided in LeMars for more than 50 years, working as a cook at Gehlen Catholic Schools for many years, and was later employed at Lally’s Eastside Restaurant in LeMars.
Mrs. Gotto was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the church guild.
Survivors include her two sons, Jerry, of Greenland, N.H., and Robert and his wife, Judy, of Remsen, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Mariann and Dennis Weber of Brandon, S.D.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Harold and Anna Mae Ladenthin of Marcus, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Allen; four brothers, Bill, Larry, Herb and Walter; and a sister, Edna Ladenthin.
