WM. NICHOLSON CLAIMED BY DEATH
Early Plymouth County Settler Had Been Failing For Long Time
Death claimed William Nicholson, 125 First Street, N.E., June 19, at his home. He had been in failing health for about the last year and a half.
Mr. Nicholson was born on April 22, 1871, at Cottonlodge, Annan, Scotland, and passed away at the age of 74 years, one month and 28 days. He came to the United States with his parents when he was 16 and they moved to Plymouth County. At the age of 21 he moved to Struble. In December, 1894, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Moran.
He had been suffering from heart trouble. Recently he suffered an attack of pneumonia.
Surviving are: Benjamin and Donald of LeMars; William of Maurice, Richard of Sioux City, Mrs. Jennie Becker of Ireton, Mrs. Julius Rosburg of Hinton, Mrs. Verne Keough, Mrs. Mabel Mueller and Mrs. Chester McDougall all of LeMars; Evelyn Nicholson of Chicago. He made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Mueller in LeMars. One sister, Mrs. Murray Little of Summerhill, Annan, Scotland; 43 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. Six of his grandsons are in military service.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Bertram of Ireton and two who died in infancy, also his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at Wiltgen’s funeral home. The body will be at home until noon. Pallbearers will be J. G. Koenig, Ben Nicholson, Wm. Becker, Wallace Becker, Randall Keough, and Jules Rosburg.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery, LeMars.
