MINNIE D. HARMS

Minnie D. Harms, 95, Sioux City, died Friday, July 5, 1996, at Indian Hills Care Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. The family will be present 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harms was born April 11, 1901, in LeMars, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Anna B. (Brennan) Smith. She taught school prior to her marriage.

On June 6, 1922, she married George J. Harms in Merrill, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1928. He died March 8, 1980, in LeMars. She worked at J.C. Penney Co. for several years and then St. Joseph Hospital in the dietary department for several years.

Mrs. Harms was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Gordon and Joleen Harms of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Pat Kennedy of LeMars; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eldon; a grandson, Mike Kennedy; two brothers and two sisters.
