MERRILL, Iowa -- Donald D. Warnock, 88, of Le Mars, formerly of Merrill, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at The Abbey in Le Mars.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Charles G. Tefft of First United Methodist Church in Merrill, officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, with the family present after 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
Donald David Warnock was born Jan. 17, 1915, on the family farm near Merrill, to Eugene and Nellie (Potter) Warnock. He attended primary school at Plymouth Township 4 and later graduated from Merrill High School.
He farmed with his father until they moved to Merrill in 1946. It was then that he started Warnock's Body Shop in Merrill. He operated the business until the early 1990s, when he retired. He became a resident of The Abbey in Le Mars on Jan. 18, 2001.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Merrill.
He will be lovingly remembered by a brother and his wife, Wayne and Dorothy Warnock of rural Merrill; and seven nieces and nephews, Dr. Gary Warnock and his wife, Jane of Laytonsville, Md., Jeanie Campbell and her husband, Odes, Pat Warnock and Terry Warnock, all of Mountain Rose, Mo., Nancy Miller and her husband, Duane of Storm Lake, Iowa, Donna Dwyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Tracy Warnock of Ankeny, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oliver and Merle; and infant sister, Gladys; and a sister, Luverna Schroeder.
