Marlene May Schindler, 71, Hebron, Neb., formerly of Hinton, Iowa, died July 11, 2005, at a Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln, Neb.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Leeds with Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be at Calvary Lutheran Church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Arrangements are being made at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Marlene was born April 24, 1934, at Pender, Neb., to John and Elsie (Daum) Lubbers. She grew up and attended school in Wayne and Thurston county schools. She graduated from Pender High School in 1951 and later attended National Business College in Sioux City.
Marlene married Henry Richard Schindler on Aug. 14, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Neb. The couple made their home on the family farm in rural Plymouth county near Hinton. Mr. Schindler died April 8, 2004. Following her husband's death, she moved to a Hebron, Neb., nursing home and had just recently moved to Lincoln.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Leeds since 1958, the Sarah Circle, Ruth prayer circle and Golden Age group. Marlene was also a member of Siouxland Senior Center and the Hungerford Farm Bureau. Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards and doing crafts.
Survivors include sons Douglas Schindler, Lincoln, and Kim Schindler, Elk Point, S.D., daughter Sabrina and Todd Johnson, Chippewa Falls, Wis.; six grandchildren Amarjit, Anton, Steven, Michael, Andrew and Samuel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Schindler, father John Lubbers, mother Elsie Lubbers and sister Joyce Kampa.
