HINTON, Iowa -- Henry Richard Schindler, 74, of Hinton died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Henry was born May 9, 1929 at James, Iowa to Frank and Erna (Boecher) Schindler. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He attended school and graduated from Hinton High School in 1947.
He married Marlene Lubbers on Aug. 14, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Neb. Together they farmed in the Hinton area. Henry was a lifelong resident of the Hinton area.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City since 1958. Henry enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Hinton; two sons, Douglas Schindler of Lincoln, Neb. and Kim Schindler of Elk Point, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Sabrina and Todd Johnson of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; six grandchildren, Amarjit, Anton, Steven, Michael, Andrew and Samuel; two brothers and their wives, Walter and Arlene Schindler of James, Iowa, and Bill and Barb Schindler of Sioux City; and a sister and her husband, Emma and Delbert McLain of Minneapolis, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
