MARTHA M. BUNKERS
Martha M. Bunkers, 89, Holy Spirit Retirement Home, died Saturday, April 29, 1995, at the nursing home after a long illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Slaven, chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A rosary will be recited by the Catholic Daughters of America at 4 p.m. with a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time at the nursing home chapel.
Mrs. Bunkers was born Nov. 13, 1905, in Plymouth County, the daughter of Anton and Catherine Delperdang. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Alton, Iowa, and St. Mary’s in Remsen, Iowa. She married Ulrich H. Bunkers June 4, 1929, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1946. She had been a resident of the nursing home since 1988.
Mrs. Bunkers was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Confraternity. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a lifetime member of Marian Health Center volunteers.
Survivors include her husband and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Vincent, and Hugo and two sisters, Clara Majeres and Blanche Thill.
