ULRICH H. BUNKERS

Ulrich H. Bunkers, 93, of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:45 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Hartz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Monahan Post 64. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Bunkers was born May 1, 1907, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of John Bernard and Mamie (Schultz) Bunkers. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Martha Delperdang on June 4, 1929, in Remsen, Iowa. He was employed with First Trust and Saving Bank in Remsen, beginning in 1926. He transferred to Sioux City in 1931, with Toy National Bank. He retired as vice president and trust officer and director of Toy National Bank in December 1972. His wife died April 29, 1995, in Sioux City.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where he served as lay director. He served as lay director of the Diocese of Sioux City. He served on Catholic School Foundation and Calvary Cemetery Association. He was a member and past president of Sioux City Real Estate board, Prim Time Kiwanis Club, Siouxland Mental Health Center and Siouxland Estate Planning Council. He served one term as Iowa Corporate Fiduciary Association as secretary and treasurer. He was admitted to the Bar in 1936. He was a member of the Woodbury County Bar Association, Third Degree Knights of Columbus and American Legion Monahan Post 64.

Survivors include a sister, Kathryn Bunkers of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John; and a sister-in-law, Norma Bunkers.

Pallbearers will be Larry, Don, Ron, Joe and Rick Delperdang and John Paul Bunkers.
