GEORGE BOHLKE

LE MARS, Iowa – George Bohlke, 90, of LeMars, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Park Place Estates in LeMars following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. Andrew Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Oyens, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 4 p.m., and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., all at Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Bohlke was born Feb. 17, 1910, on the family farm south of Oyens, the son of Frank and Catherine (Bohnenkamp) Bohlke. He was raised near Oyens and attended St. Catherine’s Parochial School. He graduated from LeMars Central High School in 1928. He married Irma Clabaugh on Jan. 3, 1934, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars. Following their marriage they farmed for many years on the family farm until retiring. They moved to LeMars in 1985. She died March 2, 1990.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters.

He enjoyed woodworking and carving in his spare time.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Norrine and Dick Kellen of LeMars, and Ann and Chuck Sitzmann of Rogers, Ark.; a son-in-law, Norm Kneip of Knoxville, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Bohlke in infancy and Carole Kneip; three brothers, Ferd, Joe, and Pete Bohlke; and three sisters, Rose Hansen, Mary Reisch, and Betty Mueller.
