CECILIA BOHLKE

LE MARS, Iowa -- Cecilia Bohlke, 92, of LeMaras died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars, with Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m., a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. and a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Bohlke was born Aug. 19, 1906, near Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Matthew and Mary (Madden) Lanners. She was raised near Remsen and attended school in Remsen.

She married Edward Bohlke on Nov. 5, 1924, in Remsen. The couple farmed for many years in Plymouth Count, Iowa. He died May 29, 1965.

In the early 1990’s, she moved into LeMars and lived at Floyd Valley Apartments.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, Catholic Daughters of America, and Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, playing cards and crocheting.

Survivors include three sons, Ray of LeMars, Floyd “Bud” and his wife, Bonnie, of Sioux City and Clayton and his wife, Delores, of Kingsley, Iowa; four daughters, Darlene Thill, of Sioux Falls, S.D., Shirley Traufler, Marilyn and her husband, Don Hoffman, and Lois and her husband, LaMont Hageman, all of LeMars; a sister, Agnes Lanners of LeMars; a son-in-law, Arnie Welter of Carroll, Iowa; 28 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Welter, four grandchildren, two sons-in-law, two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will be Tony and Mike Bohlke, Terry Hoffman, Kim Hageman, Joe Traufler, David Welter, Lisa Weber and Bryan Thill.
