MILFORD M. BEEGHLY

PIERSON, Iowa – Milford M. Beeghly, 102, of Pierson, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Scott Meier officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Beeghly was born Feb. 9, 1898, in rural Pierson, the son of E. J. and Ida (Foft) Beeghly. He was raised in the Pierson area and graduated from Pierson High School in 1916. He attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.

He married Dorothy Graham on March 8, 1931. He was an early producer of hybrid seed corn, sold as “Beeghly’s Hybrids.” His wife died Aug. 24, 1984.

He married Alice Rieckmann in 1992.

He served as president of Iowa Farmers Grain Dealers Association and as director and president of the board for Farm Credit Board, Omaha District. He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Kingsley.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, BonnieR. Nigro and Beverlee A. McCollum, both of Omaha; a son, Weyland M. of New Delhi, India; six grandchildren, Montieth McCollum, Just and Alexander Nigro, Graham, Laura and Benjamin Beeghly; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Eldred, Beryl and Dale.
