AXEL C. BAY
AKRON, Iowa – Axel C. Bay, 89, of Akron, died Wednesday in a Sioux City hospital of brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Catholic Church of Akron. The Rev. Stanley Stone will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in the Schroeder Funeral Home at Akron.
Mr. Bay was born Aug. 4, 1889, in Hjorring, Denmark.
He married Margaret Gleason April 5, 1915, at Akron. They farmed in Preston Township, rural Akron until 1963 when they retired to Akron. She died Jan. 1, 1967.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Loyd (Agnes) Lamoureux of Sioux City, Mrs. Loren (Clare) Thuringer of South Sioux City, and Mrs. Curtis (Barbara) Hansen of Akron; five sons, Gene of Rock Valley, Jules and Paul, both of Sioux City, and Stanley of Akron and Phillip of Lawrence, Kan.; 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Signe Bay of Denmark.
