L. M. (Toddy) Sampson
L. M. (Toddy) Sampson, 65, Aurelia, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sampson who were longtime LeMars resident, died Monday at the Alta Memorial hospital after a long illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for the last two years.
He was born Oct. 31, 1902, at Shellsburg, Wis. His marriage to Violet Gabel took place June 3, 1925, in LeMars. The couple farmed at Aurelia for 25 years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Aurelia Methodist church, with Rev. Jack Speer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery under direction of the Wharton funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial is being established at the hospital.
Survivors are his wife, Violet; three sons, Dwight, Kansas City; Dwain, Beaufort, S.C., and Dennis, Omaha; five daughters, Mrs. Daphine Clement, Cherokee; Mrs. Patricia DeForest, Aurelia; Mrs. Karen Covey, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Mary Hill, Omaha, and Mrs. Geraldine Berens, Holland; two brothers, Lester, Cleghorn and Harold, Regal, Minn.; five sisters, Mrs. Delores Herron, Dallas; Mrs. Irene Fischer, Cherokee; Mrs. Maxine Farmer, LeMars; Mrs. Janette Fulton, Cleghorn, and Mrs. Iola Thompson, Kingsley; 25 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
