Ocy D. Jones Jr.
Ocy D. Jones Jr. , 79, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Private family graveside services will be in Logan Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Jones was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Ocy D. and Mae (McInnis) Jones Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific.
He married Lavonne Donovan on Aug. 19, 1950, in Sioux City. He owned and operated Steele Siman Commission Company at the Sioux City Stockyards for many years.
He enjoyed his family and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Gary and Connie Jones of South Sioux City; two daughters, Carol Gessell of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Julie Twyford and Bud Feltz of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Duane and Donna Jones of Westfield, Iowa, and Robert and Angie Jones of Smithland, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Shirley and Don Banks of Westfield; three grandchildren, Raymond Jones and his wife, Sara, Megan and Luke Twyford; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy; and his parents.
