Darcy Jaster, 19, dies of injuries after car crash
Darcy Allen Jaster, 19, Columbus, Neb., died July 27 at Behlem Memorial hospital, Columbus, after being injured six hours earlier in a car-pickup crash.
He was a grandson of Mrs. Minnie Gabel, LeMars.
Two other young persons died in the crash and three more were injured.
According to the accident report, Darcy and a girl friend were passengers in a car with another couple returning to their homes after swimming. The accident occurred about 8 p.m.
Darcy was born July 21, 1951, at Sioux City, the son of Emil Carl and LaVonne Gabel Jester. He lived in LeMars where he attended school until 10 years ago when the family moved to Columbus. He was a 1969 graduate of Columbus high school and was employed at a factory in Columbus.
Funeral and burial was in Columbus. Services were at Trinity Lutheran church and burial at Roselawn cemetery with Rev. H. M. Rathkamp officiating. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church.
Survivors are his parents; a sister, Mrs. Darlene Scheiffer of Yankton; brothers, Darwin, Darius, Daryl, all of Columbus; two nephews, David Scheiffer, Yankton, and Robert Jaster, Columbus; his grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Gabel, LeMars.
Attending the funeral last Wednesday were Mrs. Minnie Gabel and Mrs. Alma Heeren, LeMars; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Gabel, Patty and Ricky; Mr. and Mrs. James Gabel; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Gabel and Ernest, Michaelene, Carl and Sharon, Mrs. Carl Hasenbank and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Heeren, all of Akron.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Schuette, Craig; Mr. and Mrs. Don Gable, Steve, Theresa, Susan, and Jerry, Hawarden; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gabel, Alcester; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Renken, LeMars, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Renken. Also Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Schieffer and family of Yankton.
