DEATH CLAIMS ERNEST GABEL
Well Known Farmer In Preston Township
Ernest Gabel, 56, well known farmer and stockman of Preston Township, died at his home Tuesday night following an illness caused by heart trouble.
Mr. Gabel was born in Sac County, Iowa, and when three years old came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gabel, to Plymouth County.
Mr. Gabel attended county schools and followed the avocation of farming all his life.
He was born on December 23, 1883. He was married twice. His wife and eight children survive, four of whom are from his first marriage. Ernest Gabel was married to Pearl Mann in January, 1907. She passed away January 9, 1919. Several years later he was married to Minnie E. M. Langelett of Canistota, S. D., October 2, 1923. His children are Mrs. Violet Sampson of Kingsley, Mrs. Fay Klomp of Remson, Raymond Gabel of Akron and Roy Gabel of LeMars. The four children at home are Donald, LaVonne, Eldon and Virgil.
He is also survived by six brothers, Milton Gabel of LeMars, George of Merrill, Merton and Arthur of Akron, Leo Gabel of Aberdeen, S. D., Frank Gabel of LeMars, and three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bellander of Colome, S. D., Mrs. Jessie Treptow of LeMars, and Mrs. Dick Bohlken of Akron.
The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at St. Paul Lutheran church in Preston Township, Rev. Carl Fenske officiating, and interment made in the Plymouth Cemetery at Crathorne.
Mr. Gabel was highly esteemed in the community as a good citizen and neighbor.
