Neil Robertson Dies In California; Was County Supervisor
Neil Robertson, 87, a former Plymouth county supervisor, died Thursday at Santa Monica, Calif.
Funeral services were Sunday, Mar. 28, at the Plymouth Presbyterian church. Rev. E. M. Miller of LeMars was clergyman. The Masonic lodge conducted graveside rites.
Mr. Robertson resided in Plymouth and Woodbury counties until moving to Santa Monica in 1945. His home in Plymouth county was Akron where he operated a real estate office for sometime. He served three terms as a Plymouth county supervisor from 1897 to 1908.
Serving as supervisor during the planning and building of the Plymouth county court house, Mr. Robertson’s name, along with the names of the other supervisors and the auditor of that term, appears on the corner stone that was dedicated at the front of the building in 1901.
He was born Jan. 6, 1867 at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and came to Plymouth county as a small child, the youngest son of Neil and Ann Robertson. He was married to Minnie Reese.
A member of the Presbyterian church, Mr. Robertson was affiliated with Morningside lodge, No. 15 A.F. and A.M. and Sioux City Consistory.
Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Mrs. William (Ida) Frerichs of Santa Monica, Mrs. John (Rae) Montgomery of Julian, Calif., Chester C. of Seattle and Ronald N. of San Antonio, Tex. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives form a distance attending services were: Ronald Robertson and son, Norman of San Antonio. Tex.; Mrs. William Frerichs, Jr. , Mrs. Harry Burgard, both of Santa Monica; Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomery of Julian, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Robertson, Mrs. Ruth Robertson and children of St. Lawrence, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Robertson and family of Alcester, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Jimminez and family of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schweitzberger and family of Kingsley.
