John Robertson Dies at Age 64

John Robertson, 64, who for many years farmed seven miles south of Hawarden in Plymouth county, died unexpectedly from a heart attack Sunday afternoon. Mr. Robertson was outside in the yard at his farm home when stricken and was found by his wife.

He suffered a heart attack four years ago following an operation and had not been too well since, but was able to do his own farm work.
Mr. Robertson was born August 14, 1894, near Le Mars. He resided on a farm as a child and engaged in farming all his life.

He married Ruth Dean August 22, 1916, at Morningside, Rev. Frank Reed of the Presbyterian church performing the ceremony. The couple farmed in Plymouth county all but two years which were spent near Flandreau, S. D.

Mr. Robertson was a member of the Modern Woodman club of Chatsworth and of the Men's Brotherhood of the Plymouth Presbyterian church.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Miss Marjorie Robertson of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Donald Luken of near Akron; two sons, Jay, who farms south of Alcester and Calvin of rural Hawarden; a brother, Neal Robertson of Lawrence, S. D.; three sisters, Mrs. S. O. Locer and Mrs. Margaret Dennler, both of LeMars and Mrs. Harry Burgard of Santa Monica, Calif., and nine grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Fred Soloman of Pittsburgh preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Plymouth Presbyterian church, Rev. Charles Kruse officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery with the Barnard Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
