John Robertson, 83, a pioneer of Plymouth County, died at his home in Johnson township, Thursday, after a long illness. Mr. Robertson was a resident of the county for sixty-six years, coming here among the early settlers in 1870. He took up land and engaged in farming, an occupation he followed all his life.
John Robertson was born March 13, 1853, in Nova Scotia, Canada, and came with his parents to Iowa in 1869, and in 1870 located in Johnson township.
He was united in marriage to Miss Anna McKinnon, January 1, 1893.
He is survived by his wife, and three brothers, Duncan Robertson, of LeMars; Angus Robertson, of Wessington Springs, S. D., and Neil Robertson, former county supervisor, who is at present in San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves a number of nephews and nieces.
John Robertson was well known in the community, especially among the older residents. He was one of the stalwart pioneers who helped build up this community.
Arrangements are pending for the funeral which will be held at the Plymouth Presbyterian church, near Crathorne, Rev. W. E. Smith officiating. The last rites were to have been held Sunday but the blizzard stopped all traffic.
The funeral will probably be held Wednesday afternoon if weather conditions ameliorate and the roads are opened for traffic.

DEATH MAKES MANY CALLS IN HOMES OF PLYMOUTH COUNTY
Three Pioneer Settlers Are Listed Among Those Summoned

John Robertson, Sr., a resident of Plymouth county for over sixty years, passed away Thursday, February 6, 1936, at his home in Johnson township, aged nearly 83 years. He had been in failing health for several years and his death was due to the infirmities of advanced age.
John Robertson, son of Neil and Annie Robertson, was born March 13, 1853, in Nova Scotia, Canada. He came to Iowa in the year 1970. He was a successful farmer in Johnson township all his life, until he retired from active farming.
He is survived by his wife and three brothers, Duncan, of LeMars; Angus, of Wessington Springs, S. D., and Neil, who at the present time is at San Antonio, Texas. No children were born to this union. Mr. Robertson became a member of Plymouth Presbyterian church on January 29, 1893, and since that time has been a faithful and consistent member of that organization. He was well known as a respectable citizen of that community and enjoyed the acquaintance and esteem of a large circle of friends.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon in Plymouth church, conducted by Rev. W. E. Smith. Interment was in the cemetery near the church.
