Neil Robertson, 69 year old Holden Township farmer, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29, 1961 at his home. Death came after an illness of several years.
Funeral services were conducted at the Sunbeam Congregational Church Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 1, 1961, and burial was made in the Holden cemetery. Brief rites were held earlier at the Reck funeral Home which had charge of the arrangements. Rev. Douglas Barrows of Faulkton conducted the rites, and the pallbearers were E. V. Story, J. W. Dynes, Dwight Chipman, John Peterman, Herbert Zeiger, and John Wheelhouse.
Neil Robertson was born May 17, 1892 in Plymouth County, Ia., the oldest son of Duncan and Belle Robertson. He was reared in the area, and farmed there until World War I when he enlisted in the U. S. Marines. After receiving his discharge he resumed his farming in Ply. county.
On August 8, 1923, he was united in marriage to Marie Taylor at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. In 1926, they came to Hand County, S. D. and established their home in Holden Township. They were the parents of 3 sons, John Angus, and William preceded him in death.
During the time he lived in Iowa, Robertson was a member of the Plymouth Pres. church and was an elder there. Later he transferred his membership to the Sunbeam Trustees and was an Honorary deacon.
Surviving him are his wife, Marie, one son Robert and his wife Lois, Mrs. William Robertson and 5 grandchildren, John, Margaret, Janet, Barbara, and Robbi, three sisters, Mrs. S. O. Locer and Mrs. Margaret Dennler of LeMars, Iowa, and Mrs. Harry Burgard of Santa Monica California.
