LeMars Daily Sentinel, September 27, 1921

Mary J. Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Brown, of Adaville, died Sunday of pulmonary tuberculosis and will be buried in Adaville cemetery this afternoon, Rev. Zike conducting the funeral service. Deceased was born April 6, 1890, and has been a public school teacher in that community.

Mary J. Brown died September 24, 1921 at the home of her sister, Mrs. J.C. Bryant of Adaville, where she made her home, the cause of her death being diabetes. Mary J. Brown was born at Adaville April 6, 1890 and at the time of her death was 31 years and 5 months and 18 days of age. She made her home at Adaville most of her life with the exception of six years spent in California. She was a highly educated young lady and taught school in Iowa and South Dakota for a number of years. Three years ago she was called home to care for her ailing father and it was there that she contracted the disease from which she never recovered.
