Mabel L. Griffith

Mabel L. Griffith, 90, of Kingsley, died Saturday, Sept, 26, 1992, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Correctionville.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Kingsley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Crosswhite officiating. Burial will be in the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service held at the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mrs. Griffith, the former Mabel Lillian Warren, was born Oct. 25, 1901, at Peterson, Iowa, daughter of Arthur and Frances (Doolittle) Warren. She attended rural schools and graduated from high school at Royal, Iowa. She attended Morningside College. She taught rural school at Garfield #1 in Plymouth County. She married Lloyd Griffith Aug. 8, 1923, at Royal. They farmed northeast of Kingsley for many years. He died in 1968. She had lived at the nursing home since August of this year.

She was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church and the UMW. She had been a Sunday school teacher and a leader of the Farmer's Union Youth Group for several years. She was a member of the Neighborhood Club.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Warren "Pete" and Betty of Kingsley, Wyman and Emma Lou of Frederick, Okla., and James "Bob" of Kingsley; two daughters and their husbands, Colleen and Lloyd Keck of Washta, and Gwen and John Bierman of Kingsley; a brother, Harry Warren of Spencer; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Harold; a sister, Velma, and three grandchildren.
