Funeral Tuesday for LeMars Centenarian
Nina V. Forbes, 102, LeMars, a former teacher, bookkeeper and salesperson, died Sunday (April 14, 1991) at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars. She had lived the last ten years at the care center.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in LeMars with Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Kingsley Cemetery.
Visitation is after 2 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Miss Forbes was born Aug. 11, 1888 in rural Marcus to William J. and Emily Tanner Forbes.
She moved to Kingsley at the age of 5 years and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1910. She attended Morningside College and taught school for 25 years in Seney, Westfield, Pierson and Kingsley. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. She moved to LeMars in 1931, after the death of her mother.
Survivors are nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edmond, Dewey and Jay; three sisters, Mae Brandon, Mabel Oleson and Minnie Forbes.
