Dora E. Wilkens
MARCUS--Dora E. Wilkens, 86, of Marcus, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1993, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.
Mrs. Wilkens, the former Dora Krekow, was born Dec. 23, 1906, at rural Marcus, the daughter of Charles and Augusta (Geister) Krekow. She graduated from Remsen High School and attended Teachers College at Cedar Falls. A lifelong area resident, she taught rural schools in the Remsen area. She married Fritzie Wilkens on June 19, 1935, at Remsen. She assisted him in the operation of the International Harvestor Implement dealership at Marcus. He died on Jan. 6, 1963. She then worked as a bookkeeper at the Marcus Oil Co. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta Nursing Home the last eight years.
Mrs. Wilkens was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Peace Lutheran Ladies Aid.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Otto, Gus and William; and four sisters, Emma, Brandt, Alma Harnack, Marie Dunn and Lizzie Olson.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday), at Peace Lutheran Church, Marcus, with Rev.. Daniel Georg officiating. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, under the direction of the Earnest-Roethler Funeral Chapel.
