CARROLL VANDER KOOI

Mrs. Fred (Carroll) Vander Kooi, 64, of rural Hinton, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.

The former Carroll Jean Fritsch was born Feb. 6, 1934, at Antigo, Wis., the daughter of Elmer and Lucille (Mikkelson) Fritsch. She was raised and attended school in Antigo. On Nov. 1, 1952, she married Fred Vander Kooi at Elk Point, S.D. Following their marriage the couple lived for about 15 years in the Antigo, Wis., area and in 1968 they moved to Hinton and Merrill area.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kay Marks and her husband, Richard, of Merrill; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Rolin, of Burr Oak, Mich., and Arlene Brown, of Howe, Ind.; four brothers, Robert, Richard, Duane and Donald Fritsch, all of Antigo, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen Sherlock; and a sister, Lila Dickman.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars with Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
