EVA VANDER MEER
Mrs. Arie (Eva Wilhelmina) Vander Meer, 94, longtime LeMars resident, died Friday (Dec. 9, 1983) at Brentwood Care Center, LeMars, where she had lived the last eight years.
Mrs. Vander Meer died on the 74th anniversary of her marriage.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in LeMars. Rev. Merle Den Bleyker will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1889, at DeLier, Netherlands, to Willem and Wilhelmina Augestinus Van Buyn. She came from Holland to the Rock Valley vicinity in 1907 and moved to LeMars in 1944 where her husband operated Vander Meer Bakery.
Her marriage to Arie Vander Meer took place Dec. 9, 1909, in Hawarden.
Survivors are her son, Peter A. Vander Meer, LeMars; eight grandchildren, Peter Vander Meer, Mary Conry, William Vander Meer, Evelyn Albrecht, Tom and Jim Vander Meer, Ann Savage and Dorothy Stick; 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Sina De Bruin, Sheldon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arie, in 1973, and 10 brothers and sisters.
