HELEN TRACEY
Mrs. James (Helen) Tracey, 72, of Newell, Ia., and formerly of Remsen and LeMars, died Monday, Oct. 8, 1984, at Good Samaritan Center, Newell, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here. Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens officiated. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery, LeMars, under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tracey, the former Helen Thiel, was born Aug. 18, 1913, at Remsen, the daughter of John J. and Mary (Flier) Thiel. She was reared and educated in the Remsen area.
Her marriage to James Tracey took place Jan. 20, 1931, at Remsen. The couple lived at Remsen until 1962 when they moved to LeMars. James died on Aug. 6, 1970. Helen had resided at the Good Samaritan Center at Newell since September 1971.
Surviving are two sons, Richard, of Burlington, Ia., and Dale of LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. D. C. (Marge) Solem of Laurens, Ia.; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Alice) Curry of Marcus and Mrs. Alphonse (Erma) Pick of Remsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; seven brothers and seven sisters.
Pallbearers were Clyde Means, Michael A. Tentinger, Larry Pitts, John Thiel, Roger Tracey and Robert Wermes.
