Homer Thoms, 94, Merrill, a LeMars native and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday (Sept. 11, 1990) at his home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with Rev. Shirley Textor of Merrill United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars.
Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Thoms was born June 26, 1896, in LeMars to James and Leah Fontaine Thoms. He married Emma M. Frisch Feb. 2, 1918, in LeMars. He was a retired farmer, and lifelong Plymouth county resident.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Eunice) Schmid of Kingsley and Mrs. Carl (Lorraine) Durr of Merrill; two brothers, Wallace Thoms of LeMars; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma in 1978; three sisters, Mary Margaret and Stella; five brothers, William, Harry, James, Clarence and Elmer.
