REV. HARRY O. THOMPSON
Harry O. Thompson, 91, of LeMars, died Friday (Nov. 4, 1988) at a Sioux City hospital following a short illness.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Calvary United Methodist Church in LeMars with Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars was in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Thompson was born Oct. 23, 1897, at Van Horne, Iowa, to John and Melissa (Henny) Thompson. He married Le Von Charles Aug. 25, 1927, at Red Oak.
Rev. Thompson was a minister in the United Methodist Church for 38 years, including eight years as district superintendent. He was a member of the Westmar College Board of Trustees and the board of the Flatrock Children’s Home. He was a 25-year member of the LeMars Rotary Club. He was active in American Cancer Society programs and was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in LeMars.
Survivors are his wife, Le Von, of LeMars; a son, Clarence, of Enid, Okla.; three daughters, Myrleen of Iowa City, Marcella of Blacksburg, Va., and Lois of Kansas City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Parkinson of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dwight; five brothers and two sisters.
