EARL THOMPSON

Earl Thompson, 87, Merrill, died Friday (Jan. 11, 1991) at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Merrill United Methodist Church with Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7-8 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Thompson was born Oct. 20, 1903, at Beaver City, Neb., the son of Alvin and Estella Johnson Thompson. He married Esther M. Davis Dec. 2, 1933, at Cushing.

Mr. Thompson a retired blacksmith and welder. A longtime Merrill and Hinton resident, he served as mayor of Hinton and on the fire departments of both Merrill and Hinton.

Mr.Thompson was a member of Merrill United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife; four daughters and their husbands, Erlene Kommes and Kenneth of Fort Dodge; Elinor Kay Waltz and Edward C. of Sioux City; Erma Hecht and Lawrence of Merrill; and Evalee Waltz and Jerry of Winterset; two sons and their wives, Eldon and Heidi of Sergeant Bluff and Errol and Rhita of Charleston, S.C.; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brothers, DanThompson of LeMars; two sisters and their husbands, Violet Fowler and Cliff of LeMars; and Edith Evans and John of Pender, Neb.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Estella; a sister, and five brothers.
