BRUCE STEELE

Bruce Steele, 28, former LeMars resident, was dead at the site Thursday morning of the Farm Service Co-Operative in Farmington, Minn., after being electrocuted.

Graveside services at Resthaven Memory Gardens north of LeMars under the direction of the Mauer funeral home are to be held Monday.

Service arrangements are pending at the White Funeral Home, Farmington.

Bruce was born Feb. 1, 1946, in LeMars, the son of Claire and Jane Steele. His father is Plymouth County Auditor.

Bruce was on his first day of work with the Farmington Co-Op when the accident occurred.

He was assisting another employee in the co-op yard when the auger struck an electrical high line. Both men reportedly were knocked to the ground, which was covered with water.

Farmington police and rescue squad were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday.

Efforts to revive Bruce at the scene were unsuccessful.

Mr. Curry was reported in good condition Friday morning at the Sanford hospital, Farmington. He reportedly was wearing rubber boots, which may account for the fact that he is alive today.

Bruce at the time of his death was living in Apple Valley, Minn, which is just northwest of Farmington, Minn., south of Minneapolis on I-35.

Bruce was graduated from LeMars Community schools in 1964. He had been active in International Relations Club and Thespians. He was a member of the band during his high school career and played football as a freshman.

Mr. and Mrs. Claire Steele were in Des Moines Thursday attending a school on the operation of the new Plymouth County voting machines when news of the tragedy reached them. They returned to LeMars Thursday night.

Survivors include his wife, the former Gerry DeRaad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer DeRaad, Seney, and a daughter, Laurie Beth; his parents; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Kennedy, Brookings, S.D.
